This one is a rare gem, a detailed account of what it was like to tow an RV over the highways of 1935. There are records of mileage, service, fuel and campsites or \"Tourist Camps\" as they were called, with lots of personal details and vivid descriptions of the landscapes, road conditions, and accounts of the people they met along the way. They even witnessed a fatal accident.Apparently every penny spent is accounted for, as well as the amount of time spent on even the briefest rest stop breaks.Their main destination was Yellowstone, and the accounts she writes of the parks details are priceless historical gems.An interesting recollection is pulling over to listen to one of President Roosevelts \'Fireside Chats\'. There is a brief mention of the Wisconsin Dells. The had relatives in the area.This was all written by the daughter of the family. She must have kept a notebook and then typed the details after they returned. The trip began and ended in Carlock, Illinois. She faithfully records the mileage along the way. The trip begins with 21,664 miles on the odometer and ends with it reading 25,125. Total drive time was 82 hours, 44 minutes.The 31 pages took us each about an hour to read. Lots to absorb, and interesting throughout.
I\'ve had this document for years with the idea of retracing the family\'s trip at some point in my life. I may still do that, but I\'m ready to let go of the original, hoping it finds a good home.
