1 pair of vintage phenolic resin/wood composite knife handle scales, 5\" x 1 1/2\" x 3/8\". From the 90s. Alternating layers of black/shade of red. Manufactured under the name Pakkawood, it\'s a wood and resin composite that\'s engineered primarily for durability and resilience to hard-wearing use. It\'s comprised of thin layers of wood veneer submersed in resin, then heated to bond the two together in a process called thermosetting. Pakkawood was created in 1969 in Japan and is highly resistant to heat, moisture, and warping. It\'s still used on many Japanese kitchen knives. It works well and produces a gloss finish and is superior to similar resin/wood composites being made today.Thanks for looking.
