From a Tucson, Arizona collector's estate:Vintage Maricopa Indian Wedding Vase
Measures 8 inches high. It is a beautifully made pot, absolutely perfect in its symmetry and the fineness of the polished surface. It could be the work of the master potter of Maricopa, Ida Redbird, who was known for this quality of pottery. Ida did not sign all of her pieces.
This pot was made after 1937 which is when what is called the Maricopa Revival began. The Revival was an effort to improve the previously poor quality of Maricopa pottery in order that Maricopa artisans could get paid better for their work in markets such as museum shows.
A Christie's sale house label is on the base. It may be possible to research the sale in which this pot sold on the Christie's web page, but I'll leave that work to you!Condition is very good.
