Description Up for sale is a vintage Marcel Rochas, Femme Parfum in its old beat-up box. On the backside is the number 163. T number usually indicates the size of the bottle fragrance, but I cannot locate what 163 is. Or, due to the bottle height, this could be 1 oz. I do not know

This bottle is a parfum, as are all of the Marcel Rochas bottles for Femme that have this clear plastic cap designed during this time period.

Femme was introduced by Marcel Rochas in 1945. After World War II was over, Edward Roudnitska created this fragrance, and it was called Femme. The perfume was inspired by Rochas’s young wife, and he gave it to her as a wedding gift. I read where she felt like this parfum was the best wedding gift she received. The parfum is in a clear amphora shaped bottle that was designed by Marc Lalique, based on Marcel Rochas designs or sketches. The box is a black and white lace design, which I understand goes back to the corset that Rochas made for Mae West.

The box for this parfum is rather soiled and in poor condition, but it has protected the perfume and bottle all these years.
- Although some of the perfume has evaporated, I don’t believe this bottle has ever been opened. (And I cannot open the bottle so will leave to new owner.) The clear plastic stopper matches a lot of other bottles I have seen that are parfum. For example, colognes and EDT’s have different colored caps. The top of the stopper has a white paper label that reads FEMME in gold font. Plus, the backside of the upper lid reads: Parfum 163.
- The parfum has been described as composed of flowers and fruit. 100 ingredients were used for this fragrance, and it is considered a Fruity, Floral Chypre. Women seemed to love the original formula!
  - I found on the web that the notes are: Top notes are: Plum, Peach, Cinnamon, Apricot, Brazilian Rosewood, Bergamot and Lemon; Middle notes are Cloves, Carnation, Ylang-Ylang, Rosemary, Rose, Iris and Jasmine; Basenotes are Oakmoss, Leather, Benzoin, Amber, Patchouli, Musk and Vanilla.
Around the neck of the bottle is a string cording that has a brass circlet with MR stamped on both sides of this seal like item
The glass has a very silky feel to it.
Since the bottle is sealed, I have no idea what the parfum smells like. There is a good chance since the bottle has been housed in the box, it may still smell good, but will not have the longevity of a new perfume just off the shelf. And, because more “natural” ingredients were used, that may also help with the product not deteriorating so fast, I do not know.
The underside of the bottle is embossed:

- BOTTLE MADE IN FRANCE
  - Just above the Made in France, about in the center is the Pouchet et du Courval mark. Hard to see, need to use a Loupe, not that clear. Mark is an entwined HP. See photo # 6.
Height of the bottle is a little over 3 1/4 inches tall
