Troika / Тройка written in lower left hand corner; this a traditional Russian sleigh & three horses. No specific story behind it but it’s been ingrained in Russian culture, always a big sleigh with three horses (troika losses translated means “three”). Artist is Lovkachev / Ловкачев (lower left hand corner) .There are many more authentic Russian USSR made lacquer boxes for sale on our page.
