This is an excellent indenture document in vellum parchment, dated Nov.4, 1863, a counterpart lease of a piece of ground and a messuage (a dwelling) thereon at Greyden in the County of Turrey. Term: 99 years from Lady day(an agreed upon date) 1863. Expires Lady day 1962. Rent until Lady day 1861, L.3.10, from Lady day 1861, L.20. The transaction is between Mr. Francis Drake to Mr. William Wells.

This document is two large pages of strong parchment, held together at one end with a binder of the same paper and neat ribbon bows, plus a wax seal of William Wells. The fine details are numerous; It is written in fine handwritten script and calligraphy.......really a piece of art on substantial materials. The large parchments, 23\" x 28\" each, are in extraordinary condition...folded for many years and although stiff to flatten, the corners of the folds are still without tears. There is, also, an embossed London seal and stamp of 1863. Very Good+ condition.
