Vintage Gillette 1939-45 Military Production WWII TECH DE Safety Razor:

This is a vintage Gillette safety razor, produced during World War II in the United States. It features a metal blade and handle, with a bakelite grip. The razor is in good working order and has been well-maintained over the years. It would make a great addition to any collection of collectibles, particularly those related to vanity, perfume, or shaving. The razor is not handmade and has been manufactured in the United States.

The top cap is a smooth nickel/silver metal. I’ve seen black anodized aluminum and black plastic top caps for these military issued techs. It’s in solid condition for its age. The baseplate has the mysterious “S” stamp. I could not find a definitive answer for the “S” but only a theory that it signified soldier. The Bakelite handle was used to combat the humidity of the Pacific war campaigns. Mailing was used on the island of Guam where our soldiers were fighting to overtake the island from the Japanese.

The razor comes in a modern green khaki travel case, and includes a Vintage SALUTE (The Better Blade) and one Vintage Simplex blade. There is also an old Gillette Department Sales Co box.
