This is a very rare piece by artist Gemma Taccogna. She is generally known for her beautiful papier mache busts; however this piece is done in the form of folding paper dolls. The piece is solid wood and features four dolls in different outfits/hairstyles. The piece is in good vintage condition with wear and tear commensurate and expected with age and use. The piece functions as intended and the hinges are smooth when folding. This piece is signed “Gemma Taccogna, Mexico”. The artist (1923-2007) resided in Palos Verdes, CA, but this piece was made in Mexico.
This item measures 4 and 5/8ths inches across (when closed), approximately 18 inches across when opened, and 10.5 inches tall.
