History:
Capodimonte porcelain is named for porcelain produced in the Neapolitan region of Italy, (and Spain, for a while), not for a single factory or maker. The first manufacturer of this hard-paste porcelain was the Royal Factory, built in “The Royal Wood of Capo-di-Monte” in Naples, Italy. Capodimonte factory was moved to Madrid when its founder King Charles inherited the Spanish throne from his brother in 1759.

Strictly speaking, this was the end of \"Capodimonte porcelain\", but the reputation of the factory\'s products was so high that the name is often claimed and used for porcelain made in other factories in or around Naples.
R. Capodimonte Di Morra Assunta (M.A.S.) was located in Portici (near Naples) Italy (1960\'s-1980s.) The factory not only made decorative porcelains but exported and distributed items made by others during this time.
