Scarce. Guaranteed Authentic Disneyland souvenir key from the Yale Lock Shop on Main Street USA. The Towne & Yale Lock Shop was one of the original 1955 shops at Disneyland. In addition to supplying the park with all the locks for all of their secured rides, shows, stores, and attractions, the company had a store that sold keys to guests. The key featured the Disneyland logo and the Sleeping Beauty Castle. The store closed at Disneyland in 1964.
It is my understanding that the Gold Tone key was only offered to VIPs, on opening day, July 17, 1955. After opening day, the remaining stock of gold toned keys was returned to Yale and never offered again to guests. After that, the shop only offered the silver tone version of the Disneyland souvenir key. I have heard this from more than one serious Disneyland collector, but have been unable to verify this as 100% true. This listing is for an actual souvenir key as shown in the first four photos (front and back shown). The last two photos are for your reference only and are not included in this listing. You will not receive what you see in the last two photos. You only get this rare uncut key. It is the gold-tone version, but the key looks more gold in the photos than it looks in person.When the store closed, the remaining stock of unsold keys, like this one, were housed in the basement of a former Yale Lock employee. When he died in 2016, the family sold the remaining stock of keys that were all kept in excellent condition over the years. This key is likely one of those keys.
