This vintage Haida folk art silver and abalone bottle stopper is very beautiful.
There are no maker\'s markings on it and no hallmarks. However it does appear to be real silver as I tested it. It is likely just less pure than sterling silver.
It measures 3 3/8\" tall sitting on a regular wine bottle size cork.
The figure of a man riding a killer whale comes from the Haida legend of the Whale Rider.TheHaidaare an Indigenous group who have traditionally occupiedHaidaGwaii, an archipelago just off the coast of British Columbia.
