This listing is for a complete, Still-in-Original-Envelope, collection of 1953 Wheaties Cereal Canadian Province License Plates. Included in the set are 10 metal license plates for:
Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan
As you know, these small metal license plates were popular cereal premiums in the mid-1950\'s, when one could order license plate sets from General Mills. They were meant to be played with, not for collectors, so it is almost funny that they would just put the plates into a paper envelope and mail them, with no packaging material. This is why there really aren\'t many \"mint\" plates, as they were meant to be toys.
The small metal plates have always been stored in their original mailing envelopes and were never displayed. A few years ago, I added a tissue paper barrier between each plate. The plates range in size, but are about 4 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches on average.
I would grade these plates as Very Good, in that they are straight with a minimum of storage wear. They were never displayed or played with but were taken out of the envelopes to view several times.
