Description of Item

Vintage 1950\'s Super Lectric 10\" Tabletop Oscillating Fan - Everything Works

Everything works. The fan, the oscillator, its switch, original cord.

It could use a cleaning up & likely a restoration

I bought it decades ago to restore but life slipped by and I never got to it.

The original switch works

The fan is pretty quiet for its age. NO slop in the fan shaft that I find.

The oscillator works and fan moves back and forth and I just tried it.

A little bit of slop in the oscillator. IN this I mean if it is setting still and you turn the top of the fan by hand there a little play (movement) there in the Oscillator arm....... but this over all is pretty normal. The olden days of making fans were not as refined as today but they are built better than those of today by far. This is normal

sometimes even when new because of the rivet they used way back when in the oscillator arms

has to be loose for it to work. If it was tight it would not oscillate. The looseness in the rivet

cause the slight slop. If it was two tight it would put strain on the whole system.

It affects the fan in my view zero.

There is aging and light surface rust.

In trying to wiggle the fan for slop in it, this did not wiggle

I think the blades may be aluminum.

The cord is in pretty good condition and not cracked or frayed that I can see.

One makers flaw in the cord but does not affect it.

Overall I feel this would be a relatively easy restore.

I am assuming the nuts, bolts on the fan are original but can not guarantee it.

The top oscillatory knob which should unscrew to stop the oscillating is very tight

I did not put a wrench on it to try loosing it as I figured this minor as everything else worked easily.

May need a shot of WD 40 or light Electric Oil to Loosen ??? Just mentioning this.

The fan appears pretty clean on the inside just by looking though air vents.

This is pretty much how I bought it some years ago and been setting on my garage shelves with other

fans I was going to restore but never got around to it.

VINTAGE, RETRO, ANTIQUE & OLD ITEMS THEY ARE SO COOL

Please remember that Vintage and Antique items will show some wear, blemishes, and imperfections that they haveacquired though the years. Old magazines, books, publications, booklets and manuals may come with wear, age spots & page discoloration. Some may have a slight age orotherodor from aging. It\'s a natural process. I collect or have collected many Vintage items over the years and I personally feel this adds to their character, charm and shows that the background and history of the pieces as beingauthentically old and thus making them more in demand, collectable and desirable to those that enjoy and/or collect them. Remember that even a vintage item in really good condition is old and it may not function as well as when it was originally made. Plastic type and other items can change color and/or weaken over time because of light, pollutants, heat,humidity and other items in the air. So if you intend on using a Vintage item, please be aware of this, and be careful. We can not control how you use them. They may be more subject to breaking just because of the fact they are old. Yet other items were madebetter back then, then similar items made today, so you alone have to make your decision to buy and item or not.
