For sale is one non-dug, two-piece, coat-size (23 mm) Civil War State of Vermont button. Tice writes that \"Vermont troops [of all ranks] wore these state coat of arms buttons on their original state-supplied Civil War uniforms.\"
With a raised mark, depressed channel (rmdc) \" * SCOVILL MF\'G CO. * / WATERBURY.\" backmark, this button is specifically listed as Albert\'s VT9A and as Tice\'s VT230A6. Tice pictures this backmark as Plate B-7/19 and in the accompanying text on page 32 he dates it to \"about 1855-1860.\"
This example is in very good condition as shown with some evidence of wear and use including a slightly bent shank and resulting slight push on the rear.
