VTG C. 1960\'s MEXICANCARVED WOOD 8.5\" TALL STATUE, representing SITTING WINGED ANGEL CHERUB HOLDING A PAPAYA FRUIT. HAND PAINTED MEXICAN FOLK ART PIECE. GILDED WINGS.

MEDIUM SIZE: 8.5\"tall, 6.5\" WIDE AT WINGS; VINTAGE MEXICAN HAND-CARVED AND HAND-PAINTED WOODENSCULPTURE REPRESENTING A SITTING WINGED ANGEL/CHERUB HOLDIN A PAPAYA FRUIT. EXTREMELY WELL-DETAILED. GUERRERO-STYLE. Circa 1960\'s. CARVED FROM ONE SOLID PIECE OF WOOD; WINGS ATTACHED!

Wood-carved guardian angels and winged cherubs used to be apart of home décor in the Mexican villages for centuries, since they arebelieved to bring good luck. The statues were carved from a solid Maderawood; Gesso was then applied on the surface of the statue and painted over. Wings areattached by nails. There are no two Cherubs that are exactly alike. Eachwood-carved Cherub represents a beautiful piece of Mexican folk art!
