First published in 1868 and the Copyright renewed 1878 by the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul this revised edition dates from 1902.The Children of Mary was a pious Sodality affiliated with the Sisters of Charity from the 1830's. Children in their care were enrolled in the Sodality which by 1908 numbered over 40,000 members in the U.S. alone.

Consists of three parts - Part One offers an introduction to the Sodality and the Indulgences granted to its members. Part Two treats the rules of the Society of the Children of Mary, its statutes, the conditions for admission, the virtues expected of its members, the officers engaged in its direction, the Rule of Life and duties and obligations of members. Part Three provides Prayers and Meditations for the use of the Society. This last section at nearly 300 pp. constitutes the bulk of the little book and offers a wealth of prayers and meditations, many in Latin and facing English translation.In very good, clean and solid condition. All pages are bright, neat, crisp and uncreased. Binding is solid and tight with no splitting.

Overall the little book is sturdy and solid and in very good condition.A marvelous little introduction to a lost world of Catholic piety and practice from the turn of the twentieth-century and the era of Pope Leo XIII and the first administration of President Teddy Roosevelt.
