VTG BESMO HEART BOX HAND CARVED SOAPSTONE KENYA TRINKET ABSTRACT PALM TREE DESIGN ETCHED IN GENUINE AFRICAN PRODUCT

4.5 inches long, 3.5 inches wide, 2.5 inches tall & weighs about 2 pounds.

There are tiny nicks in some of the etched lines, light surface rubs and scratches, some chips of dark color are missing at bottom tip of heart on the underside edge. Round adhesive mark remains on the underside of the top lid but no stickiness remains. Nick on top edge of heart’s right side opened dish. Some paint rubs of white interior glaze. Adhesive remains on bottom of trinket box was as it appears when I purchased at estate sale. No sticky spots. Inside is painted white but in some lighting can look slightly yellow. It’s a cream color and brightness depends upon lighting. Many pictures clearly show this small vintage artwork has been gently used and has a unique patina of its own. See photos.

Vintage soapstone feels so nice to the touch. The modern shaped black heart with white etching is beautiful and intricate. I see an abstract design of a palm tree and greenery that has a flow-over effect as it continues from the lid surface down the lid sides and are completed at the base of the trinket box. Makes a great gift for Valentine’s or anytime romance is right. It’s a perfect way to present jewelry.
