This Japanese saw ornokogiriwas hand forged by the Japanese master blade maker, TRANSLATION UPCOMING.It is the most popular type of saw used in woodworking and Japanese carpentry with both rip and cross cut teeth that cut on the pull stroke, unlike European saws which cut on the push stroke. This allows it to have a thinner blade that cuts more efficiently and leaves a narrower cut width. Made of a high qualitylaminatedcarbon steel and carefully milled by hand. It has the blade smiths name hand edched on its forged iron blade. (see pictures 2, 11, & 15).
Note the smaller teeth toward the handle end of the blade (see picture 14). This was used to help make an efficient starting cut before proceeding with the larger teeth. This saw has been well used yet well loved and is still sharp and ready to cut. The cryptomeria wood handle, along with a warm aged patina is still in very good condition.This Ryba-nokogiri saw is complete with all teeth sharp and , inexcellentconditionthroughout, as seen in the enlarged pictures..Measures 26" overall (66 cm) including handle. With a blade length (teeth area) of 10 1/2" long by 4 1/4" wide (26 x 11 cm).
