I really can\'t tell if the finish is worn down, or it is in need of a serious cleaning. Wear is in pretty good shape considering the age. In my humble opinion, I believe that the brass needs to be cleaned with a brass cleaner. As the rest of these I have seen have been shiny.As far as testing, the alarm clock works, the clock winds and keeps time for at least 2 days. The button on the top works to stop the buzzer, and the big winding arm will wind to play music. Please look at the controls instructions before setting and moving the dials as everything does work, but there is a learning curve in understanding the instructions.
**Stuff I did not test.*Clock was not tested for the full 8 days. After this many years, I would be surprised if it did. I know it works for at least 2 days.*Clock was not opened and professionally cleaned and lubed. Might be a good Idea.*Finish looks ok. But if keeping it I would touch up the top with an airbrush, or take it all down to brass. Either way would look good.*The glass is in good condition with no easily visible scratching. However, you will see some smudge marks on the glass. As it seems to smudge just by looking at it. It will be cleaned and sanitized. However the glass smudges easier than any other clock I have.
