Presenting an exquisite footed trumpet vase masterfully hand crafted and signed by the renowned Australian silversmith Don Sheil, founder of Sheil Abbey. This magnificent piece is an exceptional early example which has not been in production for many years. The exterior of the sleek, clean-lined trumpet shaped body has been beautifully decorated with a boldly etched rugged texture creating a surface which wonderfully contrasts smooth polished and deeply etched finishes. The recesses of the design have been darkened adding fabulous definition to the organically inspired lunar texture. The sleek, trumpet shaped body stands proudly atop a wide and stable foot patterned with the most exquisite raised lava-like texture which radiates from the base of the vase. There is the odd tiny rough spot to the rim and a few incredibly light surface scratches to the body noticeable only on extremely close examination but mentioned for complete accuracy. This fine example has been very well cared for and presents spectacularly.MARKS: This piece is beautifully signed near the top rim with an engraved "Don Sheil" signature. - A fabulous addition to any Don Sheil or Australian design collection!
