The original plastic piece is on the watch stem, protecting the stem and keeping the watch from running - when the stem is pulled out as it is now, that stops the watch function. The stem has never been pushed in so it's possible the battery still has a charge when you push the stem in, although tbh it probably needs have the battery replaced.
The gorgeous patent leather band, enhancing the look of the watch, is actually over a real leather inner piece so your wrist stays comfortable all night long at the gala event where you will definitely want to have this watch as the centerpiece of your outfit.
