On October 12, Major Vadym Voroshylov, call sign \"Karaya\", destroyed five Shahed 136 drones: three in southern Ukraine and two over the Vinnytsia Oblast, making him an ace in a day. After destroying the last drone, parts of it impacted into Major Voroshylov\'s MIG-29. The damage broke the jets canopy, damaged its nose and caused a loss of pitch controls. Major Voroshylov noticed his plane would crash into a small village and despite a fire entering the cockpit he manage to divert it toward an empty field. At the last moment he was able to eject and landed near a village called Luky. He was awarded the Hero of Ukraine award for his actions by President Zelensky, and acquired the nickname \"Ghost of Vinnytsia\".
