SCARCE AND POPULAR DUE TO THE QUALITY OF THE FOSSILS!!

This is USGS Professional Paper 583-A Some Silicified Middle Ordovician Brachiopods From Kentucky. Published in 1967, this book has 14 pages of text and two plates of photos of brachiopods from this area, which I have shown in my photos. The text provides detaileddescriptionsof several of species, some of which were new species. The photos are very detailed and helpful.

I am really impressed by the details on these fossils, and don't recall seeing such well preserved examples before. They are really pretty amazing. The fossils were obtained merely by dissolving away the enclosing limestone with acid, which means anyone could do it. With such nice fossils to be found, I'd be inclined to try. The locations are given with some precision in the text, and are mostly along road cuts, so the collecting could be really easy.

All in all, this is a very niceitem that would be of interest to fossil collectors, paleontologists, or anyone else that just loves rocks and fossils.
