LAST ONE!!!

This is USGS Professional Paper 959-G, \"Rutile in Precambrian Sillimanite-Quartz Gneiss and Related Rocks, East-Central, Front Range, Colorado.\" Published in 1976, this scarce 17-page report details the occurrence of rutile in some high grade metamorphic rocks in the Front Range of Colorado, west of Denver. The explanation for the rocks that is offered in the text is quite an interesting story, and although most of the minerals occur as rock-forming minerals, this still makes for very interesting reading.Other minerals mentionedin the text include:

Sillimanite

Plagioclase

Biotite

Topaz

Rutile

The main rutile-bearing rock has an unusual composition of quartz, sillimanite, +/-topaz and variable amounts of rutile, and the rutile is noted as being unusually pure.

In addition, this report describes similar occurrences around the country, including:

Farmville, Virginia

Kings Mountain District, North and South Carolina

Graves Mountain, Georgia

Yuma county, Arizona

Santa Cruz county, California

And other occurrences in the US and around the world. It all makes for interesting reading.
