This is USGS Professional Paper 834,Systematics, Environment, and Biogeography of Some Late Cambrian and Early Ordovician Trilobites from Eastern New York State.Published in 1974, this is a scarce and desirable work. This publication consists of 38 pages of text, and 4 plates bound into the book.

This volume documents this important fossil-bearing area and the 12 species of trilobites known to occur within it. Specific fossils locations are given. While New York is arguably better known for its Devonian trilobites, this area in eastern New York represents an important area not only for the species present, but because they define the location of the Cambrian-Ordovician boundary. In describing the trilobite-bearing formations reference is also made to many other types of fossils that were found.

An important reference on the region, it would also serve as an excellent field guide for the serious collector. The plates bound into the book show dozens of photographs of various trilobites and details of various features important in their identification. This would make an important addition to any library on trilobites, or of New York stratigraphy and geology.
