This is USGS Bulletin 922-C,Manganese Deposits in the Little Florida Mountains, Luna County, New Mexico. Published in 1940, there can\'t be many of these around! This ole report consists of a 20-page book andall three of the original geologic mapswhich are bound into the book as fold out maps.
This report describes one of the state\'s largest manganese mining areas, and the deposits there. This area produced interesting black calcite as part of the ore. It was intergrown with white quartz, making for a pretty wild looking rock.
The maps in this report are fairly large for foldout maps, and all have some color portions on them.

The manganite is said to be crystalline and forms in cracks in the wall rocks. Could be worth checking out. Some copper and silver values were also returned from analyses of the ore!
