This is USGS Bulletin 945-A, Geology of the Grey Eagle and Some Nearby Chromite Deposits in Glenn County, California. Published in 1944, there can’t be many of these around! This publication consists of the 26-page book and all six of the original maps, one of which is an index map showing the locations of mines and prospects. Three of the maps are fold-out maps bound into the book, the other three are in a pocket in the back of the book. The rare green chromium garnetuvarovitehas been found in this area, as well as the rare purple chromium chlorite calledkammererite, as well aschromite, serpentine, olivine, talc, chalcedony, andmagnesite.Perhaps even more minerals have since been found in this area.
