Here is a pair of fossil fish from the world-famous fossil beds of Fossil Lake, Green River Formation, Wyoming. From the Eocene, 52 million years ago.
From the ash layer of the sandwich beds of Fossil Lake, this plate features a young adult Diplomystus and a juvenile Diplomystus. The larger specimen measures approximately 5\" in length and the and the juvenile is about 2\". The larger complete specimen features very nice ray fins and caudal fin as well as natural golden-brown pigment, which is commonly found in this layer of the lake.
Please note, there is a small hairline crack in the plate that has been repaired (see photos). It should not affect the overall stability of the plate.
The plate is about 6.3\" x 4.3\" and weighs 15.80 oz.
