TUCSON ELECTRIC PARK

Tucson Electric Park, now known as Kino Sports Complex, is a multi-purpose stadium located in Tucson, Arizona. Opened in 1998, the stadium was originally constructed to serve as the spring training home for Major League Baseball teams and has since become a versatile venue for a variety of sports and events. The park is named after Tucson Electric Power, the local utility company, which secured naming rights upon the stadium\'s opening.

The stadium\'s most prominent tenants were the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Chicago White Sox, both of which held their spring training at Tucson Electric Park from its opening until 2010. The Diamondbacks used the facility from their inaugural season in 1998 until 2010, while the White Sox trained there from 1998 to 2008. The park provided a warm-weather location for these teams to prepare for the upcoming baseball season, and it also hosted numerous exhibition games that drew fans from around the region.

In addition to spring training, Tucson Electric Park was home to minor league baseball. The Tucson Sidewinders, the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, played their home games at the stadium from 1998 until 2008. The Sidewinders were a successful franchise, winning the Pacific Coast League championship in 2006. After the Sidewinders relocated to Reno, Nevada, the Tucson Padres, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, called the park home from 2011 to 2013.

The facility, now known as Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium, continues to serve as a vital part of the Kino Sports Complex, hosting various sporting events and community activities. The complex includes additional fields and amenities, making it a hub for youth sports, amateur tournaments, and special events. It remains an important venue for baseball, soccer, and other sports in the Tucson area, reflecting its adaptability and ongoing contribution to the local community\'s athletic and recreational life.
