This is a translucent hard Arkansas whetstone. The translucent Arkansas stone is an extra fine whetstone used for finishing and polishing. This is a natural Arkansas sharpening stone which is found only around Hot Springs, Arkansas. The stone is novaculite and is the finest natural abrasive stone available. It has superior sharpening characteristics that will actually polish the edge as it sharpens.

These stones are natural and may have slight imperfections and variations in their colors and patterns.

This is a nice stone that has some internal flaws that should not affect it use. These are hard to find stones at a reasonable price.
