This book is a commentary on the Thirteen Principles of Faith of the Rambam. At the end of the commentary on each prnciple there is a small appendix, a story from the Holocaust illustrating the way this principle has been exemplified in Jewish historical action. There is also an introduction in which the author speaks of his general aim in the book.
I found his commentary to be extremely helpful. He for instance in commenting on the first Principle of having Faith in God shows how this Principle is vital to the whole of Jewish belief. In talking of the Second Principle -the Unity of God- he makes the point that for the Rambam the prohibition against \'other gods\' included the prohibition against even thinking that they might possibly be real.
This is a \'sefer\' which can be used to deepen one\'s faith and understanding.
I learned from it, and recommend it highly.
