This amazing vase was made by Thomas J Wheatley (1853 - 1917), signed and dated 1880 for the T.J. Wheatley & Co which was only in business from 1880 - 1884. It is numbered \'8\'.This vase was made in the Limoges style and this Earthenware vase is made of Clay and Porcelain using a unique slip glaze process. It features 3-dimensional leaves surrounding a wild rose blossom.
The vase is about 6 inches wide at its widest point, with a 3 inch opening. It is just under 8 inches tall and weighs nearly 3 lbs.Many of the surviving pieces by Thomas J Wheatley are in museums and are valued from $500 - $1,000 each. The vases with the attached flowers and sea life tend to be higher on the price scale than his later pieces.Because this one has chips missing from the leaves and rose petals, has a crack and will NOT hold water I will offer this vase at sale with a low (for this maker) starting price. This vase is sold AS IS and you are purchasing it knowing that there are flaws.
