The Southern Historical Society Papers DVD The Southern Historical Society was an organization founded by Confederate Major General Dabney Herndon Maury in 1868-1869. Its purpose was to document Southern military and civilian viewpoints from the American Civil War. These viewpoints were compiled into the Southern Historical Society \"Papers\". They were published in the late 19th Century, comprising of articles written by Southern soldiers, officers, politicians, and civilians. This collection contains the first 44 volumes of the collection: the entire first series (volumes 1-38) and six volumes of the New Series (volumes 39-44.) All volumes were published by the Southern Historical Society in Richmond Virginia. This DVD runs on all Windows and Macintosh computers. You must have a web browser and Adobe Acrobat Reader - (available for free download if you do not have it installed on your computer.) The book index is organized in an HTML menu that is compatible with all browsers and the books themselves are in PDF format to allow them to be universally accessed.
