Theoriginal item is located in the Vatican Museum. Sphinx victims inorder to avoid being torn to pieces were challenged to answer thefollowing riddle \"What creature is two-legged, three-legged andfour-legged and weakest of limb when it walks in more than two legs?\"Her victims were many but Oedipus gained the throne of Thebes byanswering the riddle and thus freeing the city from the terriblemonster. His answer \"Man, who begins life in all fours and ends lifeleaning on a cane.\" Red-figure vase painting is one of the mostimportant styles of figural Greek vase painting. It developed in Athensaround 530 BC and remained in use until the late 3rd century BC. Itreplaced the previously dominant style of Black-figure vase paintingwithin a few decades. Its modern name is based on the figural depictionsin red color on a black background, in contrast to the precedingblack-figure style with black figures on a red background.It wasHand made in Greece, diameter is approximately 8 inches.Our clay itemsare Hand painted and not fastly made, nor are they cheaply made ofsubstitute materials such as resin.
