The Moon\'s Tycho Crater & Mars\' Olympus Mons Models from NASA Data! Accurate! The Moon\'s Tycho Crater & Mars\' Olympus Mons Models from NASA Data! Accurate!

This is perfect for any space-exploration enthusiast or fan of astronomy.

TWO Highly Accurate Models of Tycho Crater, the most easily visible crater on the Moon,

AND
Olympus Mons, the Largest Volcano in the Solar System!

Each Space Terrain is an exacting recreation of a specific extra-terrestrial topographic detail.

MRG has perfected a process by which we digitally combine NASA LRO or MRO radar,

scan data with super-high resolution photos to create an unprecedented level of detail!

We then output these files in 3D with a resolution down to 16 microns!

These were then turned into master patterns from which we produce these items.

They are not 3D printed, they are made of hardened resin.

Our super accurate model measures 10” square,

seated in a 12.5” by 11” injection-molded ABS display frame.

These topographical representations can be hung or rested flat.

Tycho is believed to have formed about 100 million years ago when an asteroid or comet slammed into the Moon.

Material from the impact fell back to the surface as bright rays of ejecta,

Olympus Mons is the largest known volcano in the solar system,

and the youngest large volcano to be found on Mars.

The shield surrounding Olympus Mons has about the same area as the U.S. state of Arizona.

Tycho Crater is featured prominently in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey,

in scenes where a 4 million year old alien monolith (“Tycho Magnetic Anomaly”, or TMA-1) was found,

buried forty feet beneath the lunar surface.

On Mars, the crust remains stationary and volcanoes grow larger and larger over time.

Visible from Earth with telescopes, Olympus Mons was first spotted in the early 1800s,

poking out of the top of the global dust storms that frequently rage around Mars.

The volcano was first photographed up-close by the Mariner 4 probe, which sped past Mars in 1964.
