Talavera pottery is a style of earthenware that originated in Mexico in the 16th century. Spanish potters from Talavera de la Reina settled in Puebla de los Angeles and created a type of maiolica inspired by Muslim and Chinese ceramics.Has a small hole made for thin string to hang on wall see photos!

What is Talavera Pottery?

Talavera pottery, also known as Maiolica, originated in Spain and was first produced in the Valley of Mexico in 1540. Today, Puebla, Mexico is a major producer of Talavera pottery due to the availability of fine natural clays and the rich tradition of production that dates back to the 16th century.
