TWO Very Old Tibetan Temple Silver Dipped Conch Shell Pendants Hand Carved:

A set of two very old (likely antique) and unique Tibetan temple silver layered conch shell pendants. These were purchased at an estate sale. I was informed by the original owner's daughter that they were purchased in the early 1930's, here in the US. She mistakenly had always believed that these were very heavy earrings. These have been stored in a box for at least the last 60 years. I tested these as silver, around 850-925 SU. The primary material is natural conch, dipped on both ends with a heavy layer of silver, and then elaborately hand-carved with the design. My research shows that these are symbolically related to Buddhism. The calming sound coming from the conch shell is reminiscent to the soothing sound of Buddhas voice. And yes, each makes a beautifully tranquilizing sound. These are in great shape for their age and have an exquisite soft patina on them.
