The full title is:THE HISTORY OF THE UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD IN CHEYENNE:A Pictorial Odyssy to the Mecca of Steam.
This is a first edition published in 1987 by Express Press Limited, Carmel California, and written by Robert Darwin. It is full of photo illustrations, many of them full-page. Photos of the construction of the Cheyenne station itself, the turntable roundhouse in its various configurations through the years, architectural track plans of 1887 and 1901, architectural elevations of the depot (Which still stands today as a museum.), architectural elevations for the coal, cinder and sand station as well as many photos of trains and engines.An excellent index and bibliography are included in the book as well as photo credits and format contents.The foreward was written by Edd H. Bradley, President, Retired, Union Pacific Railroad, October 31, 1986.
This wonderful illustrated history of the Union Pacific as related to Cheyenne, Wyoming is in good plus condition with no markings on pages and a tight binding. The dust jacket is in very good condition with no tears and only minimal wear. It is a well-made, very heavy DJ. There is a small spot on the cover that may indicate the dust jacket was removed to examine the book which might explain the good condition in which the DJ is found. The front board is slightly warped with some faint waving to some pages. We have tried to show this in the photos. The gentleman who owned this volume was a rail buff who not only collected lanterns, books, time tables, etc. (He also loved riding trains.) stood this book on the long edge which caused the warping of the board. We believe if lain flat with weight on it, the warping will be eliminated.None of the condition questions affect the fact that this a volume in good plus condition with its dust jacket and as well is a font of information about the Union Pacific in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
