Stunning Art Deco Brass? Dancing Lady Taperstick Candlestick HolderI believe this to be a Taperstick from the late Edwardian / Early Modern Era. Also known as Tobacco Candlesticks, were used to hold small beeswax candles that were burnt to give off a pleasant perfume to counter the odors of pipes and cigars. Original Tapersticks were part of the tea equipage of the 18th Century, but production and use of them continued into the early 19th Century, by which point they were usually relegated to the library, where men retreated to smoke after dinner- hence this somewhat \"racy\" theme. I\'m not sure of this is brass, or spelter of some type, a magnet does not stick. It is approx. 4.5\" high, the base is approx. 2\" across at bottom.In good antique condition, checkered finish that I have not attempted to polish or clean.
