Spyderco P’Kal, model # C103GP. Meaning“to rip” in the Philippines’ Visayan dialect, “pikal” is a devastatinglyeffective system of Filipino martial arts tactics. It is also the inspirationfor the Spyderco P’Kal folding knife, which was designed in collaboration withnoted self-defense expert Craig Douglas, aka “Southnarc.” The P’Kal’s PlainEdgeblade is full-flat ground from CPMS30Vstainless steel and featuresa slightly curved edge for impressive cutting power. A removable post-styleEmerson Opening feature provides amazingly fast one-handed blade opening byhooking on the pocket during the draw. It can also be opened manually with theTrademark Round Hole. As a “reverse-edge” tool, the P’Kal’s handle isergonomically designed to be held with the sharpened edge facing inward towardthe user to facilitate powerful pulling cuts. The handle’s skeletonized fullstainless steel liners are capped by textured black G-10 laminate scales andhouse Spyderco’s patented Ball Bearing Lock—an extremely strong lock mechanismthat is also completely amofferextrous. To support all appropriate carry anddeployment methods, the P’Kal also features a reversible steel wire clip thatprovides tip-up, edge-forward and edge-back carry on both the left and rightsides.
