A well-worn Soviet pilotka from the early postwar era with some interesting details. Made from what is referred to as salt and pepper cloth, the pattern and construction is almost identical to Soviet wartime construction. There are some intriguing markings underneath the flaps. While faded, some can be made out. There is the name “Солик”, or Solik, which seems like a name. The other side has what appears to be a drawing of the top part of a tank. The cockade is a later model, but nevertheless appears to be original to the pilotka.

The inside lining has a lot of wear, especially on the oilcloth sweatband. At first glance, the stamp is barely visible, but once lightly misted with some water, it reveals itself to be a stamp from the Red Warrior factory in Moscow, Russia., alongside the date of 1955. The exterior of the pilotka has faded from much service wear, and there is even a visible difference in coloring beneath the flaps. An overall fascinating and pilotka that will go well in a collection, whether as a helpful reference or as a unique, personalized piece.
