Here, we have a Medieval finger ring circa 12th century AD. Ar silver composition. The ring is formed of a flat band that has an expanded bezel that tapers to the hoop. The top of the ring is decorated with three square panels arranged in a line. The central square forms the bezel and comprises of a slightly raised frame that contains a saltire cross formed from four circular indentations. The bezel then tapers in on both sides creating another two rectangular panels, each decorated with two diagonal lines forming a triangular pattern. The loop then tapers out again slightly, forming another square panel on each side, both decorated with saltire cross's, made up from four ovular indentations, within a square border. The ring displays some dark toning with a fair amount of gilt intact. PLEASE NOTE that this has had a repair. British found-Essex, Ex private collection.
