Vintage Green Verdite Stone African Elephant Sculpture With Tusks, Signed By Artist Robert Chimungwa of the Chobwe Tribe in Angolo. Authenticity certificate signed and provided by artist along with his photo holding the carving.
Features:- Solid green verdict stone with great patina
- Sculpture of African elephant shows skill of the artist in capturing the bulk, weight and solidity of the elephant form in the rounded body and legs and the large head. He also captures beautiful expression in the upturned eyes of the elephant.
- The carving has a repair on one ear. I have provided close up photo. This repair is reflected in the price of the carving.
- I purchased this carving in Africa in the late 1970s. I had a professional repair done on the break about 20 years ago.
- The elephant measures 8.5 inches from the bottom of the carving to the tip of the trunk and 13 inches from tip of tusk across the body.
- Weight of this solid stone green verdict carving is 4lbs 14 ounces.
