The regional development of each line is summarized to provide historical background. Part 2 focuses on the lands north and west of Wilkes-Barre, PA, encompassing the small but productive Bernice semi-anthracite coal field and the vast woodlands that supplied raw material for a succession of lumber companies. The Lehigh Valley\'s mainline between Wilkes-Barre and Sayre, PA is detailed as are the Bowman\'s Creek, Ganoga Lake, and State Line & Sullivan branches.
