BEARD-EAVES COLISEUM

Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum, commonly known as Beard-Eaves Coliseum, was a historic multi-purpose arena located on the campus of Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. Opened in 1969, the arena served as the home venue for Auburn Tigers basketball and volleyball teams. It was named in honor of three former Auburn coaches: Joel Eaves (basketball), Jeff Beard (athletic director), and Wilbur Hutsell (track and field coach). Beard-Eaves Coliseum had a seating capacity of approximately 10,500 for basketball games and was known for its energetic atmosphere during Auburn basketball games.

Over the years, Beard-Eaves Coliseum hosted numerous memorable games and events, showcasing the talents of both Auburn athletes and visiting teams. The arena was a focal point for college basketball in the state of Alabama and served as the backdrop for many thrilling matchups in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). It was also a venue for concerts, commencement ceremonies, and other community events, further solidifying its place in Auburn\'s cultural landscape.

Several notable players have graced the court at Beard-Eaves Coliseum throughout its history, both for the Auburn Tigers and opposing teams. Auburn basketball legends such as Charles Barkley, Chris Morris, and Chuck Person honed their skills on the Coliseum\'s hardwood, leaving a lasting legacy on the program. Additionally, the arena hosted visiting teams and players from across the SEC and the nation, providing fans with the opportunity to witness top-tier college basketball talent firsthand. Beard-Eaves Coliseum remained an integral part of Auburn University\'s athletic heritage until its closure in 2010, when it was replaced by the Auburn Arena, a modern facility that continues to serve as the home of Auburn basketball.
