This D-Guard was made by MARKS & REES CINCINNATI for the South during the 1930’s possibly 1940’s. MARKS & REES CINN were the first on record to advertise their Bowie knives for sale October 21, 1835 in the Daily Gazette. MARKS & REES CINN made many different surgical instruments including Bowie knives hand made.

I acquired this very rare Bowie knife from a family selling all their ancestors including immediate family who had passed away and had no interest in a highly scares early 1800’s to mid 1800’s Civil War Confederate Bowie Knives. I purchased an amazing collection, but did miss out on the complete collection. This marked D-Guard MARKS & REES CINN was amongst part of a collection I received.

I’ve had this in my collection for a good period of time and decided to sell some of my highly rare Bowie knives, and keep some which I know on will only bring tears to my eyes.

I’m placing this Bowie knife at a low price starting offer hoping a real collector knows he or she is getting the monster of Bowie knife history. This is definitely not a Bowie knife to let slip away, and I will not accept a penny less than my starting offer.

I keep a nice coat of natural oil to preserve this rare Bowie knife. There is a nice original patina on this D-Guard Bowie knife “untouched”.

- My quality photos speak for the well preserved condition this Bowie knife is in, including its been in a nonsmoking humidity controlled environment for many years.

There is no pitting on the blade. The natural oil shine gives off a beautiful preserved look.
