Miami Beach was all about drama...the Art Deco movement only catapulted that drama into sheer FLAMBOYANT...in fact that is the word I would best describe the Miami Beach I knew in the 80's when I first discovered a lost land by the sea of many boarded up hotels...homeless and people squatting in them...it was a usual occurrence to trip over someone shooting up in a hallway or guest room...at first my heart beat a million times a minute...and then I got used to it...and sometimes had to pay my way to them to get in...and once in...it was pure fantasy of derelict proportions...it was a chaotic mess of past furnishings...decay...darkness with holes ion light filtering through holes in boards in windows...but you could see the ingredients to what South Beach hotels were...the styles through the decades...from Art Deco to the added modernism of the mid century 50's and the imperialism of the 60's. Just left there to rot. It was a gift those shooting up gave me to allow my entry...as today I have the patents in my memory.

This offering is for ONE unused unwashed remnant of another one of my very favorites...one that is like a story book...if you let him...he will tell you a story of the wonders of living during the iconic Art Deco period...and maybe if you really get him to trust you...he will tell you about what it was like living for decades in a once bustling decorator design fabric store in Miami before he was rescued by yours truly...I am sure he would spill all the secrets of the busy bee workers at the fabric shop...imagine the conversations...and then of course to arrive to the BARKCLOTH KINGS domain...well I can certainly attest to some very interesting things this textile has seen :) But more importantly this design is a focal point in the MIMO movement in Miami Beach...which stands for Miami MOD and encompassed the Art Deco to Mid Century period of Miami Beach. This thick and nubby specimen is unused old stock...been with me for 33 years...it possesses a design aesthetic that surpasses anything else...embodying the Art Deco flavor in plumes and modern flower...the clever use of colors would surely set off sparks for design Mrs. Dorothy Draper...why this is right up her alley. A lemon chartreuse ground boasting true red abstract flowers...creamy gray and white plumes...deep dark teal green...with white accents. Signed "Guaranteed to be a Puritan Print Design Rio".
