Item #4000 This fantasticpyrite specimen is from Spain. This is a near-perfect intergrown cubic specimen ofpyrite. No - this was NOT cut into this perfect cubic shape. Thisis just how this cube was found. This specimen of 3 intergrown crystals has a bright shiny pyrite luster that has a mirror like surface. I looked at all the photos on and this specimen tops them all.

Pyrite cubesare found in shale, which was originally a soft mud. This mud was foundat the bottom of the ocean. The mud contained organic material, such as abug, a leaf, or a twig. As that material decomposed, it pulled in sulfurand iron, which combined to form pyrite. The little pyrite crystals grewuntil the mud finally hardened into shale. The cubic form of pyrite isunique in that there is no point of attachment to anything else, so the cube iscrystalized on every side. Most other pyrite specimens which are minedare usually broken off of a wall and only have only one beautiful side.The best location for this type of location is Spain.

The specimenmeasures 1 1/2 inches long or 35 x 32 x 22 mm. It weighs1.5 ounces (43g).

are"occo" Brazilian geodes. You can always tell this typeof geode by the swirly patterns in the polished edge of the geode.Sometimes you can see the swirls on the outside as well.

Both are filled with druzy quartz crystals and sparkle in the light. Both geodes have black spots or needles inside, which are a manganese oxide mineral of some type. In the one white geode, these black spots look like little fuzz balls. In the geode with the number on it, they have formed needles, which are coated with very fine druzy quartz. The geode with the number also has some nice, larger quartz crystals in it.

The lot of 2 geodes weighs 2.2 ounces (63g). They are all about 1 3/4 inches long, 1 1/4 inches wide and 5/8 to 3/4 inches deep.
