The termination points on solution quartz is very bizarre in that it has a hollow depression in the center that is ringed by slender individual terminated crystals. The \"point\" or \"end\" may have 20 tiny crystal tips. And this cluster has dozens of examples of this termination because every one is like that. There are also many double terminated crystals that has this habit on both ends. This is a fascinating thing to observe with a loupe or magnifying glass. Since the termination tips are tiny it was very difficult to take pictures of them.

This is from a very famous locality that closed years ago. The bottom of this crystal has a little bit of black construction paper and glue. This was on a display with a bunch of crystals glued to it that was for sale. I got this from the estate sale of Bud and Mary Edith Sigmund, Bee Line Minerals. They had apparently gotten it in trade from someone in Arkansas.

Approximate size of crystal specimen: 1 5/8\" wideX 1 1/8\" deepX 2\" tallor in metric: 4.2 X 3.0 X 5.0 CM.

This weighs 1.15 ounces or33grams when weighed on a precision gram scale.
