Greetings. Offered for sale is the original artwork for the Sunday comic strip SKEETS by Dow Walling (1902-1987).
Description:-Art Type: Sunday comic strip original artwork.-Medium: Pen and ink over pencil/graphite on art board.-Publisher: New York Tribune Syndicate-Publication Date: May 14th (1944 or 1950 which are the two years that May 14 fell on a Sunday during the run of the strip).-Dimensions: 23\" wide by 14.5\" tall (board dimensions; image slightly smaller)-Signed: No. Stat signature in title panel.-Description: This is the original artwork for the Sunday comic strip SKEETS by Dow Walling. Skeets, a Sunday only comic strip which ran for approximately twenty years, focused on the daily trials, tribulations and victories of Skeets (and his pals), a young lad who engaged in the usual boyhood activities. The strip had a definite charm and tended to bring a smile or chuckle rather than a belly laugh. This Sunday features Skeets on a fishing expedition. His bait of worms don\'t appear to be appealing to the fish until he pitches the can into the lake. Some days, you just can\'t win. A cute gag nicely executed by Walling. BTD
Condition:-The art is in excellent overall condition. Minor age/handling wear including corner creasing (not affecting artwork). Title panel is a stat with some original inking. Pencil notes to reverse.
